Ready-to-build (RTB) projects

Storage projects that are developed, permitted and ready to build, offered for acquisition.

The principle

We develop. You build and operate.

Development is the longest and most uncertain phase of a storage project: finding the land, securing the connection, going through the procedures. We carry that work and that risk, then sell the project once it is ready to build.

Secured land

Land-use rights established for the full planned operating life.

Confirmed grid connection

Connection point, voltage level and import and export capacities agreed with the grid operator.

Permits granted

Building permit and required authorisations issued, with conditions and obligations identified.

Completed engineering

Sizing, layout, single-line diagrams and fire protection concept.

Documented business case

Revenue assumptions, CAPEX and OPEX estimates and delivery schedule.

Structured data room

All project documents gathered and organised for due diligence.

Every project is different

The exact content of an RTB project — the nature of the land rights, connection terms, permits — depends on the site and the country. It is described precisely in the data room, which we open once a non-disclosure agreement has been signed.

The benefits

Why acquire an RTB project

  • Time saved. You enter the project when the investment can be committed, without the years of development.
  • Development risk removed. Land, connection and permits are no longer unknowns.
  • A solid basis for decision. A complete technical and economic file that can be verified in due diligence.
  • A project designed by a builder. Developed by an EPC team, and therefore designed to be built, connected and operated.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does ready-to-build (RTB) mean?

A ready-to-build project is one whose development is complete: the land is secured, the grid connection is confirmed, the permits are granted and the technical studies are finalised. All that remains is to finance it, order the equipment and build it.

What does an RTB project sold by A Energy Services include?

As a rule: the land rights, the connection agreement with the grid operator, the building permits and, where applicable, plan approval, the technical file (sizing, layout, diagrams) and a business case. The exact content varies from one project to another and is set out in the data room.

Can you also build the project after the sale?

Yes. The buyer can entrust us with delivery under an EPC contract: the team that developed the project builds it, with no loss of information and no rework of studies. The buyer remains free to build with another partner.

How does the acquisition of an RTB project work?

After an initial discussion and the signing of a non-disclosure agreement, we present the project and then open the data room for technical, legal and financial due diligence. The transaction then takes the form of a transfer of the project rights or of the company holding them, depending on the structure chosen.
