Hybrid solar-plus-storage plants
A battery behind the same connection as your solar plant, to make generation more useful and export at the right time.
Solar generates at noon. The value lies elsewhere.
The more solar is deployed, the more its output is concentrated in hours when electricity is worth little and the grid is saturated. Co-located storage addresses both problems with a single connection infrastructure.
Shared connection
PV and battery use the same export point: one substation, one line.
Less curtailed energy
Energy above the export limit is stored instead of being lost.
Time-shifted exports
Midday generation is sold in the evening or morning, at a better price.
Negative prices avoided
The battery charges rather than exporting when prices drop below zero.
Additional revenue
Outside solar hours, the battery remains available for ancillary services and arbitrage.
Connectable projects
A capped export capacity can make a site viable where the grid is constrained.
New build or existing plant
New-build hybrid
PV and storage designed together: AC or DC architecture, with the substation and connection sized for the whole.
Retrofit of an existing plant
Adding an AC-coupled BESS to an operating installation, without touching the inverters.
Large rooftops and farm sites
High generation, low local consumption, constrained connection: the textbook case for storage.
Sizing on data, not rules of thumb
We simulate the hybrid plant at hourly or 15-minute resolution — generation, export limit, market prices, battery ageing — and compare several power / energy pairs. The result: a reasoned sizing and a business case you can defend in front of a lender.

Frequently asked questions
What is a hybrid solar-plus-storage plant?
A solar PV installation and a battery sharing the same grid connection point. The battery absorbs part of the midday generation and releases it later, so that more energy can be exported through a given connection — and at the hours when it is worth most.
Can a battery be added to an existing solar plant?
Yes. Retrofits are usually AC-coupled, on the alternating-current side, without modifying the existing inverters. The capacity of the connection, substation and protection must be checked, and the metering and the terms agreed with the grid operator adapted.
AC coupling or DC coupling: which to choose?
AC coupling is the more flexible option: the battery has its own converters and can also charge from the grid. DC coupling, behind shared inverters, can recover energy clipped by the inverters and limit conversion losses, but is mainly suited to new-build projects. The choice follows from the study.
Why pair storage with a large solar installation?
Because solar generation is concentrated in the same hours, when market prices are lowest and grids most loaded. A battery reduces the energy lost to export limits, shifts sales to better hours and can sometimes make a project connectable where the grid is constrained.
